Frequently Asked Questions
Is life coaching right for my teen?
Life coaching can be highly beneficial for teens, especially during the challenging adolescent years. A life coach can provide guidance, support, and encouragement, helping your teen navigate relationships, build self-esteem and confidence, and develop essential life skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, and goal-setting. If your teen is struggling with issues like anxiety, body image or academic challenges, a specialist teen life coach can offer valuable support and strategies for improvement
What can I expect from life coaching sessions?
When your teen engages in life coaching with me, they can expect a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where they will explore their goals, values, and passions. I will help them identify and overcome any obstacles that might be hindering their personal or professional growth. Through our sessions, your teen will learn the necessary skills to achieve their goals, develop healthy ways of dealing with challenges, and build confidence and self-esteem.
I will act as a sounding board, guide, and accountability partner, helping your teen set clear, achievable goals and develop strategies to overcome internal and external obstacles. Our coaching process will include reflective questions, action planning, and the use of evidence-based methods such as solution-focused coaching, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioural coaching to ensure your teen gains practical tools for success.
Is life coaching worth the investment?
Investing in life coaching for your teen can be incredibly valuable. I will help your teen develop increased self-awareness, confidence, and self-esteem. Coaching improves decision-making skills, academic performance, and overall well-being. By investing in life coaching, you are supporting your teen’s personal growth and helping them prepare for a successful future. Many parents see significant improvements in their teenager’s communication skills, motivation, and happiness within just the first few sessions.
How long does it typically take to see results?
The timeline for achieving results varies depending on individual circumstances and goals. Some people experience significant changes within a few sessions, while others may require more time. My clients typically express increased clarity after just a session or two.
Can you see my teen in-person?
I am based in Oxford so can see clients in-person there. If you are based further afield but would like in-person sessions, contact me at orangetreecoachinghub[at]gmail.com to discuss.
Can my teen still see a life coach if they are already in therapy?
Yes, life coaching can complement therapy. While therapy often focuses on addressing past trauma or mental health difficulties, coaching can help you set goals and achieve desired outcomes in your present and future. I am happy to work with mental health professionals to support your teen in whatever way I can.
How will the coaching process involve me as a parent?
While coaching sessions are focused on your teen and remain confidential, I believe in a collaborative approach. You’ll receive monthly progress updates, along with practical strategies to support your teen’s development. Depending on your child’s needs, we may also have joint sessions or check-ins to align on goals and next steps. My aim is to empower you and your family to guide and support your teen as they work towards independence, while ensuring you’re fully informed throughout the process.
Are you LGBTQIA-friendly?
Yes, of course. I want to create a safe space for all my clients to come and be themselves, free from worry or judgment.
What’s your cancellation policy?
To ensure that I can accommodate all clients, I require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice to reschedule or cancel a coaching session. Except in exceptional circumstances, if you do not provide 24 hours’ notice, a fee of £50 will be charged. This fee helps compensate for the time reserved for our session.
If you have any concerns or need to reschedule, please reach out to me as soon as possible.
The cost is out of my reach
It’s true that coaching is an investment but times are tough and I want to do what I can to provide help for those committed to change who would not otherwise be able to afford to come. If financial reasons would prevent you from signing up, please email me a orangetreecoachinghub[at]gmail.com & I will try to accommodate you.
